Signs and Wonders
“Tomorrow is another day that I get to show you how much I Love you.”
Mark 16:15-18
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
When the Devil convinces Christians that it's him doing the healings, signs, and wonders; you will not only reject them and the Holy Spirit doing them, but also blaspheme those who perform them.
Signs and Wonders
from the Lord
The Signs and Wonders Jesus and the Disciples performed all
brought glory to God the Father. Jesus only did what He saw the Father do which
gives us a precise definition of what are Signs and Wonders from God. None of which
caused harm or condemnation to whom they were ministering to. Jesus even
rebuked John and for wanting to call down fire from heaven (Luke
9:51-56).
Acts 2:21-22 KJVS
And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ye men of Israel,
hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by
miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
yourselves also know.
Acts 4:29-31 KJVS
And now, Lord, behold their
threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may
speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and
wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had
prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were
all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Acts 6:8 KJVS
And Stephen, full of faith and
power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
2 Corinthians 12:12 KJVS
Truly the signs of an apostle
were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty
deeds.
Hebrews 2:3-4 KJVS
How shall we escape, if we
neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them
witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of
the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Kingdom Divided
We should never confuse what is of the Lord and of Satan.
Jesus, too, clarified that for us. And moreseo, He let us know that God’s
Kingdom cannot do what Satan’s kingdom does; nor can Satan’s kingdom do what
God’s Kingdom does. For Satan to heal would divide His kingdom. And for God to
bring sickness would divide His Kingdom.
Luke 11:14-20 KJVS
And he was casting out a devil,
and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb
spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils
through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. And others, tempting him , sought of
him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every
kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided
against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall
his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. And
if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out?
therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out
devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
False Signs and
Wonders of the Devil / Satan
Satan cannot do the same signs and wonders as God does. This
means Satan cannot heal or perform the Gifts of the Holy Ghost. Signs and
Wonders of God did not die away with the Disciples, they are for today—God’s
Word is living and active; if they died away, His word would be dead too. Any
sign and wonder by Satan will not bring Glory to God, but be a deception
against the Lord.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 KJVS
Now we beseech you, brethren, by
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That
ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word,
nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man
deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come , except there come a
falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who
opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped;
so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And
now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the
mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let , until
he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the
Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the
brightness of his coming: Even him , whose coming is after the working of Satan
with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of
unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the
truth, that they might be saved.
Matthew 24:23-25 KJVS
Then if any man shall say unto
you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false
Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch
that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have
told you before.
Works of the
Father
As mentioned above, Signs and Wonders of the Lord bring Him
Glory and are to bring people to Himself through Christ. The Will of the Father
is that all come to Him (1
Timothy 2:3-4).
John 4:34 KJVS
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is
to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 5:17-21 KJVS
But Jesus answered them, My
Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill
him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his
Father, making himself equal with God. Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he
seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son
likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that
himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may
marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them ; even so
the Son quickeneth whom he will.
John 6:29 KJVS
Jesus answered and said unto
them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
John 9:3-5 KJVS
Jesus answered, Neither hath this
man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest
in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night
cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of
the world.
John 10:25-30 KJVS
Jesus answered them, I told you,
and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness
of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them
eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out
of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is
able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
John 14:8-14 KJVS
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew
us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long
time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me
hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then , Shew us the Father? Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak
unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth
the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else
believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than
these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in
my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye
shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
